Artist Statement

My work is often autobiographical in nature, relating to my own experience through the recounting of personal memories, kind of like a journaling practice. I like to document specific moments in time through drawing, painting, collage and textiles. Currently, I am exploring themes of nostalgia, memory, identity, place, and ephemera, with a focus on the feelings of comfort, coziness and joy that can be found in quotidian objects and daily routines. Aesthetically I am drawn to lots of ornamentation, decoration, bright colours, and bold patterns.
